Class Saint - St Joseph
RE
This half term we will continue to learn about Easter. In this unit the children learn about the story of Easter and the Resurrection of Jesus from the dead. They will be introduced to the “Alleluia” as a special Easter song and the symbol of the Easter Candle.
English
- This ½ term our focus stories are some of our favourite traditional tales. These are Jack and the beanstalk, the three little pigs and the Gingerbread man.
- Children will have daily access to non-fiction books within the reading area, these books contain information about growing, life cycles, healthy eating and recycling.
- We will also continue to think carefully about how we hold our pencil for drawing and writing. This term children will be continuing to write CVC words, simple sentences/captions using CVC words and will be writing a list of instructions on how to make a gingerbread man.
- This term we will continue to use ‘talk for writing’ to perform our story focus ’Jack and the beanstalk’.
- Our Writing target this term is to ‘Write a simple sentence using a capital letter, finger spaces and a full stop.
P.E
Dough Disco
Fine motor opportunities – threading, playdoh, using tweezers and scissors Gross motor opportunities – Climbing and balancing, throwing, catching, kicking – use small and large balls, using scooters, trikes and balance bikes.
This half term children will take part in PE twice a week, on Monday mornings and Friday mornings.
P.E – The children will be preparing for Sports day activities this half term
This half term reception will continue to focus on working towards achieving as many ‘cheeky champions’ challenges as we can. Parents do not forget to send in pictures of children completing these challenges outside of school. We are grateful for your continued support!
All children should have P.E. kit in school all week.
Please make sure all clothes are clearly labelled.
Reading Diaries
Reading Diaries: Please listen to your child read at least 3 times a week (school policy) and ensure that you sign their diaries. Diaries will be checked every Friday. Please practise any sounds and words that are in your child’s purse.
We will tick them when they recognise them correctly in school.
