National charitable outreach

At St. Mary’s we all got ‘stuck into ‘Children’s Mental Health week’ – 7th-11th February.

We all enjoyed thinking and talking about ways to help us to stay healthy in our minds and bodies and to help us to understand who is there to help us when we are feeling sad, angry or upset.

Mrs. Whalley came to talk to each class, delivering a workshop full of ideas! We read books to help us to understand and we completed a range of reflective fun activities too!

On Friday we got to come to school and ‘Dressed to Express’. We raised another fantastic amount for the

‘Place 2 be’ mental health charity.

We raised an amazing £257.36!!

Well done St. Mary’s School Community J

We all had so much fun on Friday 4th February! We all came to school dressed in clothes linked to all things number! We brought in a donation for the NSPCC and then spent the day exploring number, shape and space!

  We raised an amazing 297.30!!!

The Discipleship Team have launched an appeal for everyone within the school community to bring in stamps from letters that they have received and we are going to pool these together, with the other schools within our MAC, to help fund research into bone cancer – thank-you St. Mary’s Community!

Following a visit from Major Julie Rowley, of the Salvation Army, the St. Mary’s Catholic Academy has managed to fill 11 bags full of nearly new clothes!

We made the most of the season of Advent to have a ‘clear out’ in more ways than one; this was linked to our Catholic Social Teaching mission 1, ‘Someone else’s treasure!’

We welcomed the friends and families of St. Mary’s into school on the 24th September to help us to raise funds to support the Douglas MacMillian Coffee Morning.

We had a lovely time, sharing smiles, coffee and cake!

We raised £320.00!

Well done St. Mary’s School Community!
