Home learning packs
Thank you for all support in the last week before the schools closed. I want to assure you that St Mary’s staff all have our families’ best interests at heart and will do all within their capacity to help. We will, of course, continue to keep you updated as soon as we are updated. This will be via email (please email office@stmarysnewman.co.uk if you are not on our mailing lists).
On a weekly basis (Monday mornings) new learning packs for the week will be uploaded on to the school website along with a letter from your child’s class teachers explaining the focus of the learning for that week. If you have any questions at all regarding the home learning, then you will find all teachers school emails below and they will happily answer any questions. The home learning packs will be under the children’s section of the school website https://www.stmarysstoke.co.uk/home-learning-packs/. The children will bring home an exercise book to complete their work in if required (they can complete them on the sheet if preferred). This will not need to be returned when the school re-opens. If you are currently self-isolating, the exercise book will be sent home.
There are a large number of online education sites that are offering a free trials throughout the school’s closure. The list can be found on the parent’s section of the website under ‘home learning packs’. This section will be updated as new resources are found.
In addition to the learning packs the school has subscribed to the website www.lbq.org .
The children in Y3-Y6 will be set three online ‘lessons’ on a daily basis (Monday-Friday) which they can complete. It is a fun way to learn by answering questions and instantly receiving helpful feedback after to guide learning and build confidence. The lessons are colourful, easy to follow and meet year group expectations. On a daily basis, you will receive a 3-character code to access the day’s tasks (this will be by text message). Your child will need to use an internet connected device to log in. The code will expire at the end of the day. All of the children who are in school have been shown how to use the resources over the past two days. Please see the additional information sheet for further guidance.
If your child is not able to access the internet, please contact the school office so alternative arrangements can be made.
Your support in guiding your child through their learning over the coming weeks is incredibly appreciated and will help to ensure their achievements are sustained. Please do contact your child’s class teacher if you have any queries.
Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with all of our families and we will look forward to the day that we are able to welcome our children back to school.
God bless
