Class Saint 

We have chosen St Martin as our Class Saint.

 

RE

 

The Virtues and Values this half term are ‘Compassionate and Loving’ and the Catholic Social Teaching Principle is ‘Stewardship’, both linking beautifully to our Religious Education lessons. This autumn we will be learning through the overarching branch ‘Creation and Covenant’ listening to, learning from and reflecting upon the story of creation.

We will also introduce our class Saint, Saint ‘Martin de Porres‘, who will help us to better understand the Catholic Social Teaching principles of ‘Preferential Option for the Poor and Vulnerable’, Dignity of the Human Person’ and ‘Solidarity’, through his example and guidance this year.

 

Class Texts

 

PE

PE may take place throughout the week – please ensure full PE kit is in school daily.

 

A1 Monday pm - Invasion Games (Football Skills)

Children will begin to learn the basic rules, skills, tactics and techniques in Invasion Games (Passing, Receiving, Dribbling, Shooting)

 

A2 – Gymnastics

Children will continue to develop their ability to express their ideas through movement. In Gymnastics specifically they will learn to use Unison & Canon whilst working independently in medium sized groups.

 

Homework

Daily Homework

  • Daily Maths homework will be questions practicing the four basic operations and a worded problem. They should be completed and returned daily.
  • Daily English homework will support the development and enrichment of vocabulary. Words will be taken from class texts or commonly misspelt words. They should be completed and returned daily.

 

Weekly Homework

  • Children will receive two pieces weekly.
  • One piece of work will be English or Maths and rotated on a weekly basis.
  • One piece of homework will be based on learning in the wider curriculum. It will focus on either Science, History, Geography, Art, DT, French, Computing or PSHE (these subjects will be rotated on a weekly basis).
  • This homework will be handed out on Thursday and to be handed in on the following Tuesday.

 

Reading Diaries

  • Children are encouraged to read at home daily (for at least 20 minutes) and are expected to have their diaries signed by an adult at least 3 times a week.

 

Times Tables

  • Times Tables should be practiced regularly. Children will be completing times tables checks daily.
